Leave it to Judge Toby Hampson’s team to do it again. My last post featured an email from Judge Hampson summarizing the plan to take back our state courts by 2028. This time, I’m passing along a Volunteer Conversation Guide he recently put out focusing on why the N.C. Court of Appeals races are so critical and how to talk to fellow voters about these races.
With less than six weeks until Election Day, and with about three weeks until in-person early voting starts (October 15th — more info here!), we have no time to waste in encouraging our friends and neighbors to get out and vote. And when they do, hopefully they will vote for judges who will respect and uphold democratic norms and the rule of law.
As a reminder, there are three seats up for election on the N.C. Court of Appeals this year, and four state-side judicial races in total (including Justice Anita Earls, up for re-election to the N.C. Supreme Court). Together, they are all part of our 2026 NC Judicial Slate.
Democrats can take back a majority on our North Carolina appellate courts by 2028, but we must defend all four of these state-wide judicial seats that Democrats currently hold this year.
In other words, if we want to protect the rule of law and democratic norms, we must elect all four of the judicial candidates on the 2026 NC Judicial Slate. Please consider supporting them today if you haven’t already (or again, that’s great too)!
